Remains of WW2 Armenian soldiers unearthed in Chechnya
Remains of 70 Soviet soldiers and officers, including 15 Armenians, who died during the battles in 1942 in the World War II were found in Naur region of Chechnya.
The Head of the excavation group Andrey Fetisov told Rusarminfo news portal skeletons of Armenian soldiers who joint the Soviet Army from the Armenian SSR or other Soviet republics,
have been identified.
“We are trying to find and inform the relatives of the soldiers and invite them to the funeral ceremony. The final date of the funeral has not been set yet,” Fetisov said.
He has also provided the names and other birthplace data of the identified Armenian servicemen.
