Stances of Karabakh conflict parties have further drifted away in the past one year – Larisa Alaverdyan
The stances of the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh (NK) conflict have not only failed to come closer but also have further drifted away within the past one year. They are extremely different and contradict each other, Larisa Alaverdyan, Director of the Foundation against the Violation of Law (FAVL), told a press conference on Tuesday.
“I have not sided with the stance adopted by Armenia starting from the time when we signed and recognized the contact on the territorial integrity and inviolability of frontiers of all the former Soviet countries in December 1991. As far as the Madrid Principles are concerned, the international community does not have a deep insight in the controversial nature of that document. I am convinced that many have not compared it with the constitutions of Armenia, Artsakh and Azerbaijan,” the speaker noted.
In Ms. Alaverdyan’s words, in the past one year Armenia should have found its way to new platforms and engaged in more active dialogue on Karabakh conflict.
Commenting on the recent addressed statement of the OSCE Minsk Group condemning the Azerbaijani activities, the director observed that the statement came out of despair and offended dignity.
