Armenian expert says U.S. steps back from global leadership
In the recent period, U.S. seems to isolate itself from the world affairs, which shows that the country steps back from the global leadership, Styopa Safaryan, political analyst, founder and head of the Yerevan-based Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs (AIISA), said at a discussion on Friday.
In the expert’s words, in addition to other regions, U.S. has not adopted a specified stance towards the South Caucasus.
“That country will be engaged in settling its internal issues in coming future. Trump has announced that he will no more allow the world to laugh at U.S. – the same country, that feeds many countries in the world, but is now tired of it,” the analyst observed.
Marta Ayvazyan, expert at Armenian Center for Democracy, Security and Development, in her turn noted that the newly elected U.S. president has not adopted a clear stance on any issue and Trump’s steps are not in line with his earlier statements, which causes great confusion.
“Trump’s behavior causes major problems for the United States. It is not ruled out that the world may witness change of the country’s president, but not in the accepted way,” the expert said.
