Fruit and vegetable prices up in Armenia in May 2017: statistics
The food prices reduced by 0.8% in Armenia in May 2017 to compare with April of the same year, which was mainly prompted by 5.3-0.5% deflation in vegetable, dairy products, cheese, egg and fruit products.
According to the data released by the National Statistical Service (NSS), 30.4% inflation was recorded in vegetable product group in Armenia in May 2017, compared to May 2016, with 17.5% inflation registered in fruit products in the same period.
According to the NSS data, the prices for dairy products, cheese and egg product groups rose by 0.7% in May 2017 to compare with the same period of 2016.
0.3% deflation in confectionery products was registered in Armenia in May 2017, compared to April of the same year, with the prices for bakery and cereals, coffee, tea, cocoa and soft drinks remaining unchanged as in the previous year.
The prices for meat and fish products rose by 1.8% and 23.6% respectively in May 2017 in comparison with May 2016.
The prices for oils and fats product groups also increased. In particular, 2.6% inflation was registered in this group in May 2017 compared to May 2016.
The NSS data indicates 0.1% increase in prices for sugar products, with 0.2% inflation in alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
