“The foreign policies run by NATO member states do not apply to the Alliance,” Magnus Eyjolfson, Public Diplomacy Officer at NATO Liaison Office in Tbilisi, Georgia. said at today’s seminar dedicated to the current challenges and progress of NATO held in Tsakhkadzor. The official was asked to comment on the observations that the 2016 April war showed that the troops of Turkey, a NATO member, have been recruited in military operations by Azerbaijan.
“Yes, NATO adopted a neutral stance, especially in regard to the Nagorno-Karabakh (NK) conflict. However, NATO has 29 members states which run their own foreign policy. Their foreign policies do not refer to the Alliance,” he added.
