Yerevan mayor took the oath of the office
The Yerevan Mayor Taron Margarian took the oath of office on Monday, June 12. The oath taking ceremony of the re-elected mayor took place at the Yerevan Council session. The event was attended by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, Speaker of the Parliament Ara Babloyan, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan and other officials and public figures.
With his hand on the Law “On local self-governance in the city of Yerevan”, Margarian read the oath text, pledging to carry out his mayoral obligations conscientiously, adhere to the RA Constitution and laws, the Yerevan City Council decisions to promote the prosperity of Yerevan and serve for the good of its residents.
Afterwards, an emblem of the city with initials of the twelve capital cities of the Armenia was handed over to Margarian.
To note, Taron Margarian headed the election list of the ruling RPA during the May 14 municipal elections, receiving 46 mandates, while the “Yelk” bloc got 14 and “Yerkir Tsirani” party got 5 mandates.
