Albert Azaryan Cup tournament held in Yerevan, Armenia
Yerevan hosted the 11th Albert Azaryan Cup, an artistic gymnastics tournament named after the Armenian Olympic champion, with the participation of 35 gymnasts.
As Panorama.am was informed from Armenia’s Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, this year the team of Uzbekistan also joined the international tournament. Armenia was represented by athletes from Yerevan, Gyumri and Etchmiadzin.
Armenia's gymnastics team member Artur Davtyan won the Triathlon event in the championship. He became the winner at vault, rings, as well as parallel bars and horizontal bar disciplines. Another Armenian gymnast Vigen Khachatryan became winner at the free discipline. Abdulla Azimov from Uzbekistan won the horse vault discipline.
Leaders of Armenia’s gymnastics team – Harutyun Merdinyan Vahagn Davtyan and Artur Tovmasyan – did not take part in the tournament.
