Aronian drew with Anand, heads the points table after eight rounds of Norway Chess 2017
Armenian GM Levon Aronian played out a draw with former world champion Viswanathan Anand in the eighth round of the Altibox Norway Chess tournament. The draw secured Aronian the sole leadership in the tournament ahead of the final round.
After three decisive games Aronian shot himself up to five and half points out of a possible seven and now enjoys a half point lead over Nakamura, who had been leading the tournament since the first day.
Anish Giri is on the third spot with four and a half points, a half point ahead of Vladimir Kramnik of Russia and Wesley So of United States.
In the final round Levon Aronian will compete with Wesley So with blacks.
