David Babayan: Artsakh Armed Forces have prevented and continue to prevent any provocation by Azerbaijan
“The [Karabakh] Defense Army continues confidently maintaining control over the situation along the entire borderline. The Armed Forces of Artsakh have always prevented and continue to prevent any provocation by Azerbaijan,” David Babayan, Spokesperson of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Republic President, said in an interview with Panorama.am, commenting on the recent Azerbaijan aggression which claimed the lives of three Karabakh soldiers.
“Azerbaijan’s actions on the contact line must be considered in two planes – humanitarian and military-political. From the humanitarian perspective, this is a great tragedy; we have suffered irreversible losses. The entire Armenian nation is now mourning over the three victims. However, in military-political terms, nothing strange happened. The adversary continues its series of terror and criminal actions. Moreover, Azerbaijan has never hidden its key objective – treacherously violating the ceasefire,” the official said, adding that Azerbaijan’s terror acts are backed by Turkey.
In Mr. Babayan’s words, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, who are due to pay a visit to Baku in coming days, should make a tough and targeted statement.
“In order to hinder the terror acts of Baku and Ankara, the targeted statements should be continuous,” the official added.
Asked whether the Armenian side also had two wounded in addition to the three victims due to yesterday’s incident, the spokesman urged to trust the information provided solely by the official sources.
“The source for credible information on victims and the wounded is the Artsakh Defense Army and Armenia’s Defense Ministry. If those structures do not provide such information, you should not believe in other rumors,” Mr. Babayan concluded.
