Three Armenians elected to French parliament
Three Armenians from the French President Emmanuel Macron's La République en Marche ("Republic Onwards!") party were elected to the country’s National Assembly, as the president’s party won an overwhelming victory in Sunday's elections.
French Armenian public figure Arman Avakian wrote on Facebook that for the first time in the history three –French Armenians were elected to the parliament with the ruling party that garnered more than 300 seats in the 577-seat National Assembly.
Jacque Marilosyan from Paris, Daniel Kazarian from Lion and Giyom Kasbarian from Chartres will serve as lawmakers in the French legislative body. Another lawmaker, Nadia Yesayan, who is set to serve in the Lower House of the legislative body, is married to an Armenian, Avakian wrote.
