American investors interested in Armenia’s energy sector – Ambassador
“The figure of $ 8 billion possible investment potential has been estimated by the Ministry of Energy and our estimates in the embassy also confirm that there is such a potential,” U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills told the reporters, commenting on the question whether it is realistic that the investment potential of Armenia’s renewable energy sector is close to $ 8 billion.
The Ambassador noted that it refers to the potential and possible investments, which will be possible when the energy market is completely free and it is possible to export electricity to Georgia and Iran.
“It will be possible if such infrastructures exist,” the official underscored.
Mr. Mills noted that the 8 billion dollar investment also covers the establishment of infrastructures.
“The American companies, investors are interested in this sector of Armenia,” the Ambassador said.
The Ambassador added that he discussed two investment programs with Armenia’s minister of energy infrastructures and natural resources, with one of the programs referring to energy production through solid waste processing.
