Renowned Armenian filmmaker Ruben Gevorgyants dies at 72
Renowned film director, People’s Artist of Armenia Ruben Gevorgyants passed away on Friday aged 72. As Armenia’s Ministry of Culture reports, a government commission will be set up for Ruben Gevorgyants’s funeral.
Born on 30 November 1945 in Yerevan, Armenia, Ruben Gevorgyants graduated from the Directing Department of Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre in 1968. Starting from 1989 Gevorgyants worked as the head and artistic director of Hayk Documentary Film Studio. In 1982 he received the title of Honored Art Worker of Armenia and in 2006 – People’s Artist of Armenia.
Ruben Gevorgyants is the author of over 70 films, including “Autumn of the Magician”, “Islands”, “Creation Formula”, “Expectation”, “Requiem”, “In My World”, “Blue Wind and the Scent of Almonds”, and the others.
