Air temperature to drop by 4-6 degrees in Armenia over coming days
Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) warned on Wednesday against heatwave in the country on 5 July, as the air temperature is expected to hit +40 °C with a high risk of fire. According to the source, the temperature is predicted to be higher of the average norm by 5-6 degrees.
The index of ultraviolet rays is predicted to reach 7, thus it’s recommended to avoid direct sun exposure from 11:00 to 15:00.
On July 5, no precipitation is predicted in the territory of the republic. In the evening of July 6-8 in northern regions scattered showers with thunderstorms are predicted, in separate places hail is possible, the wind speed may exceed up to 18-23 m/s. Southwest wind speed is 3-8 m/s. On July 6-9, the air temperature will fall by 4-6 degrees.
In capital city Yerevan, no precipitation is forecast for July 5. Scattered showers with thunderstorms are expected in the city in the evening of July 8-9, with the possibility of strong wind up to 17-20 m/s during thunderstorms.
