Increasing water drainage from Lake Sevan only refers to 2017 – official
The proposals made at the Parliament session were taken into account while editing the draft law on increasing water drainage from Lake Sevan, Arsen Harutyunyan, Chairman of the State Committee for Water, noted at today’s extraordinary session convened by Armenia’s National Assembly (NA). To note, the Parliament adopted in the first reading on July 4 the government-drafted amendments to the Law on “Approving the Annual and Complex Programmes of the Restoration, Preservation, Reproduction and Use Events of Lake Sevan Ecosystems.”
Mr. Harutyunyan noted in particular said that the main remarks made by the lawmakers at the previous Parliament session referred to the question whether the addition water drainage from Lake Sevan is set to be carried out only in 2017 or it will be continuous.
“Changes have been made in the bill, stressing that it only refers to 2017,” Arsen Harutyunyan said.
The draft law was put up to voting and was passed in a vote of 77 in favor and 4 against.
