Azerbaijan leaves the Armenian side with no alternative - Styopa Safaryan
Founding director at the Armenian Institute of international and Security Affairs, political scientist Styopa Safaryan thinks Azerbaijanis scared these days. “The Azerbaijani confidence was boosted due to propaganda in the wake of especially the April War and they wished to believe their provocations were efficient,” said Safaryan on Thursday at a press conference in Yerevan.
“No matter how hard the Azerbaijani leadership strives to prepare the public opinion to the idea of inevitability of a war, they failed to properly predict that Armenia would resort to countermeasures,” the speaker noted.
In his words, the Armenian side didn’t act deliberately. Furthermore, the Azerbaijani missile was launched from the close vicinity of the civilian house and casualties were probably recorded as a result of the retaliatory fire of the Armenian side.
“This action comes to curb Azerbaijan, since the Armenian side was left with no alternative. Apparently, Azerbaijanis could foresee such consequences while deploying rocket systems in civilian areas,” the expert concluded.
