Azerbaijan did its best to ensure a lot of noise – political scientist on recent Azerbaijani provocation
“Starting from 2014, the Azerbaijani authorities have consistently implemented a policy aimed at settling certain issues through escalating the frontline situation and hiding some negative phenomena,” political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan expressed such an opinion at a press conference on Thursday, reflecting on the recent Azerbaijani provocation on Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact.
In the political scientist’s words, Azerbaijan intentionally launched provocation along the contact line on July 4 to distract the public attention from documents released by the international media as an evidence that the country provides financial support to the Islamic State terror group. The analyst added that such a document could significantly damage Azerbaijan’s international reputation.
Mr. Melik-Shahnazaryan noted that Azerbaijan opened fire towards the Artsakh positions from their civilian settlements, as a result of which a child was killed following the retaliatory actions by the Armenian side.
“They have turned this a means of propaganda for themselves,” the analyst added.
