Armenian expert says Azerbaijani aggression is also prompted by Turkey’s recent activeness
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) released a statement over the July 4 military actions on Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact, with MFA Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi noting the following: “We believe that certain forces make attempts to flare up the frontline situation from outside.” Armen Israelyan, Yerevan-based expert on Iranian studies, noted the aforesaid in a post on Facebook.
In the expert’s words, Iran pays special attention to its border security following the Tehran terror attacks, especially when the July 4 military actions along Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact came in the area close to the Iranian border.
“The joint military drills between Turkey and Azerbaijan carried out in Nakhichevan on 12-16 June, as well as the military exercises by the Azerbaijani air forces conducted again in Nakhichevan in the following days have caused some disturbance in Iran. Taken into account the fact that Baku’s provocations along Karabakh-Azerbaijani Line of Contact currently receive vocal support by Turkey, as it was the case during the April war, Iran’s MFA first of all hints Turkey when saying ‘external forces’.
The recent Azerbaijani aggression is certainly linked with Turkey’s recent activeness,” Armen Israelyan noted.
