“Armenia” International Festival and Competition has impulsive power – conductor
The 2nd round of the piano competition within the framework of the “Armenia” International Festival and Competition started on July 10. 20 pianists will present their performing art and will compete for the prizes, with the winners to be revealed on July 12, the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia told Panorama.am.
The source informs that every day the audience has an opportunity to enjoy concerts within the framework of the “Armenia” International Festival and Competition. On July 8, Aram Khachaturian House-Museum hosted a concert of the Khachaturian Trio. The trio presented compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven, Alexey Shor and Antonín Dvořák.
A concert dedicated to the conductor Gevorg Muradyan’s 70th anniversary took place at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall on July 9. The Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra performed under the lead of conductor Gevorg Muradyan.
During the concert, world-famous pianist Nareh Arghamanyan (Austria) performed with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra. Compositions by Richard Wagner, Alexey Shor, Gioachino Rossini, Edgar Hovhannisyan, Grigor Yeghiazaryan, Karen Ananyan, Aram Khachaturian and Melik Mavisakalyan were presented.
The world premiere of the "Travel Notebook" Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by the composer-in-residence of the Festival and Competition Alexey Shor took place during the concert. Nareh Arghamanyan and the orchestra together presented the composition.
The pianist noted that she had already performed compositions by Shor in different countries. “Shor is a wonderful contemporary composer. Although he is a contemporary composer, his composing style is similar to Rachmaninoff and Chopin, It was a great pleasure to present the world premiere of the composition by Alexey Shor. I hope that I will have a chance to present more compositions by Shor in Armenia,” Nareh added.
Conductor Gevorg Muradyan noted that the “Armenia” International Festival and Competition has an impulsive power and gives a chance to the musicians to create something new.
The organizers of the 1st “Armenia” International Festival and Competition are the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia and European Foundation for Support of Culture. It is held with the support of RA Ministry of Culture. The event is held under the high patronage of the first lady of the Republic of Armenia Rita Sargsyan.
