Syria war has cost $226 billion in GDP losses: World Bank
The World Bank has estimated that the devastating war in Syria has cost the country a whopping $226 billion in cumulative Gross Domestic Product (GDP) losses, Press TV reports.
The World Bank said the breakdown of the systems that organize both the economy and society, along with the trust that binds people together, has had a greater economic impact than the destruction of physical infrastructure.
According to previous studies, Syria’s GDP totaled to $60.2 billion before the war broke out in the country. Currently that figure does not exceed $24 billion, according to RIA Novosti.
