Maxim Vengerov: ‘We will pray together for peace in this sunny region’
“It’s a great pleasure for me to be in this stage where the best artists always play. I am thankful to my good friend Maestro Sergey Smbatyan for giving me this opportunity to be on this stage together with the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia,” world famous violinist Maxim Vengerov said to the audience, meantime receiving a standing ovation from them yesterday evening. The artist visited Yerevan to perform for the gala-concert of Armenia International Music Festival and Competition.
“Take my congratulations for the conclusion of the first Armenia Festival-Competition which is famous hereinafter. This is not just a Competition-Festival, but a good platform for the artists. Today we met the winners of the competition and I hope we’ll hear those names which will shine in near future. As a bis I will play Bach Sarabande and we will pray together for the peace in this sunny region,” said Vengerov and gave an unforgettable sounds to the audience who didn’t want to leave the hall.
As the organizers of the festival inform, Maxim Vengerov and the State Youth Orchestra together performed the compositions of Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy, and Alexey Shor. The conductor of the concert was Sergey Smbatyan. He mentioned that the concert was a great success for them. “Armenia competition and festival is coming to the end, Maestro Vengerov is in Armenia. All of us are excited: me, the orchestra and the whole team. The fact that we had a competition-festival in line with the international standards is an important achievement. I’m grateful to the all artists who came to Armenia. We had a unique jury that tried to reveal that talent whose name you’ll hear in future.”
The organizers of the 1st “Armenia” International Festival and Competition held on 4-12 July were the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia and European Foundation for Support of Culture. It was held with the support of the Armenian Ministry of Culture. The event was held under the high patronage of the first lady of Armenia Rita Sargsyan.
