President Serzh Sargsyan attends solemn session of YSMU academic board
President Serzh Sargsyan attended on Wednesday the ceremonious meeting of the Academic Board of the State Medical University after M. Heratsi. As the press department at the President’s Office reported, in addition to Board members and numerous guests, the open-air event, which was held at the courtyard of Hospital Compound N1 of the university hospital, was also attended by injured soldiers who are getting rehabilitation treatment at the hospital compound. Wounded soldiers Sargis Stepanyan and Gor Darmanyan were given the right to hand over graduation diplomas to graduate doctors, including military doctors.
The solemn ceremony started with the march of the Special Orchestra of the General Staff of RA Armed Forces. After listening to the opening speech delivered by YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan and watching a film about the University, the graduates read out the Hippocratic Oath and received their diplomas.
Upon completion of the ceremonious event, the President toured the rehabilitation center, established through the joint efforts of the YSMU and the Ministry of Defense in order to get familiar with the Center’s activities and the medical services available. The Head of State promised to help materialize the initiative as soon as possible.
The President was told that the Center for Assistance of Injured and Disabled Soldiers will provide complex rehabilitation treatment, psychological assistance and training programs for wounded and disabled servicemen.
