The OSCE Minsk Group looks to reviving the stalled negotiations, expert says
The OSCE Minsk Group is trying to invigorate the stalled negotiations of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and prevent the war or any new escalation, expert in Azerbaijan Tatev Hayrapetyan told a press conference on Saturday.
“Individual meetings that follow serious incidents at the border are aimed at excluding full-scale military actions as well as bringing the conflicting sides to the negotiation table. Regretfully, Azerbaijani belligerent statements and threats of using force often follow those bilateral meetings. That is saying appeals to peace are often followed by threats of war,” said the speaker.
Tatev Hayrapetyan pointed to the fact that amid the efforts of solving the conflict through peaceful means, Azerbaijan continues its display of military equipment as evidenced by the recent joint drills with Tukey in Nakhijevan.
Speaking of the possibility of resignations among Azerbaijani high-level military officials, the expert didn’t exclude Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov’s dismissal along with number of others, citing predictions by Azerbaijani experts.
