Iranian parliament approves the joint use of Meghri-Norduz border crossing
The Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran has endorsed the agreement on the joint use of Meghri-Norduz border gates, expert in Iran Armen Israyelyan wrote on Facebook citing Iranian media reports.
According to the source, at a parliamentary session 145 lawmakers voted for the agreement with 5 opposed and abstained. “As the explanatory note to the legislation reads the Novrus-Meghri crossing gate is valuable for Iran not only in terms of increasing the bilateral trade turnover but also for transit cargo moving,” Israyelyan recalled the details.
To remind, the agreement on using a joint border crossing linking Iran’s Norduz to Armenia’s Meghri was signed in on December 21, 2016 during the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Armenia.
