Artsakh Ombudsman briefs int’l working group on results of fact-finding mission on April war
Human Rights Defender of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Republic Ruben Melikyan hosted on July 18 the Co-Chairs of the International Working Group on the search of the missing soldiers, hostages and prisoners of war in the Karabakh conflict zone Bernhard Klazen, Svetlana Gannushkina and Paata Zakareishvili.
As the Artsakh Ombudsman’s Office told Panorama.am, Mr. Melikyan presented the officials the status of the Artsakh Ombudsman institution, its activities, namely, the outcome of the fact-finding mission on the 2016 April war.
Upon the request of the co-chairs, the Ombudsman, within his powers prescribed by the Artsakh legislation, provided them with an opportunity to study the materials of the criminal cases of D. Askerov and Sh. Guliyev convicted by the Artsakh courts for a series of crimes. Meantime the officials were given an opportunity to get acquainted with the prison conditions of "Shushi" penitentiary where the mentioned convicts are serving their sentences, as well as to pay a visit to them.
The co-chairs of the international task force thanked for the opportunity.
