Armenian team goes for top three places in U16 girls basketball
The Armenian basketball girls’ U16 team is preparing for the 2017 FIBA U16 European Championship Division C scheduled for Gibraltar on July 25-30. Currently the basketball team is holding a training camp at Olimpavan Sports and Recreation Complex in Yerevan, Armenia, led by head coach Vahagn Harutyunyan.
In an interview with the press service of the Armenian National Olympic Committee, Mr. Harutyunyan noted that eight Armenian athletes will represent the country at Gibraltar tournament. The coach underscored that the team aspires to make it through to the top three at least.
The Armenian basketball girls’ U16 team is set to face the teams of Gibraltar, Monaco and Wales during the tournament.
The team features the following players: Anna Aslanyan, Ani Hovhannisyan, Tatev Gomtsyan, Kristina Melikyan, Shake Poghosyan, Elen Shahinyan, Kristina Ohanyan and Emma Mkrtchyan.
