Armenian school students win six medals at int’l Maths and Physics Olympiads
The Armenian school students have won six medals and have been granted two certificates at the International Olympiads in Mathematics and Physics, the press service of Armenia’s Ministry of Education and Science told Panorama.am.
The Mathematics Olympiad was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 12-23 July. The Armenian team grabbed two silver (12th grade student Mikayel Mkrtchyan and 10th grade student Gagik Maghakyan) and two bronze medals (12th grade student Sergey Nersisyan and 11th grade student Vahan Martirosyan). Vahe Karagulyan, an 11th grade student, won a certificate. All the schoolchildren study at Physics and Mathematics Specialized School after A. Shahinyan.
During the Physics Olympiad held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from 16 July to 24 July, the Armenian schoolchildren claimed one silver (11th grade student Davit Gevorgyan) and one bronze medals (12th grade student Khachatur Nazaryan), with Mikayel Yeghiazaryan, an 11th grade student from Quantum College, receiving a certificate.
To remind, at the 49th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) held in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand on 6-15 July, the Armenian team won two bronze medals and one certificate.
The next Olympiad will be held in Biology, scheduled for Coventry city of Great Britain on 23-30 July.
