Armenia’s Investigative Committee opens criminal cases as Azerbaijani shelling targets civilians in Chinari village
The Tavush Investigation Department of Armenia’s Investigative Committee has launched criminal cases into shelling of Chinari village of Tavush Province, destroying and damaging the kindergarten and the villagers’ property, as well as an attempted murder of a minor by the Azerbaijani military on July 20, the Investigative Committee told Panorama.am.
On July 20 2017, in the period from 13:00 to 18:30, the Azerbaijan armed forces opened gunfire at Chinari village located at Armenia’s bordering Tavush Province, targeting civilians.
In particular, shots were fired towards a Chinari resident born in 2000, while the latter hid himself behind a stone to avoid the Azeri shots and stayed there for over two hours.
As a result of the intensive shelling by the Azerbaijani military, the village kindergarten, houses of its inhabitants and their property were destroyed and damaged. According to the initial assessments, the shelling caused the village more than 12 million AMD in damages.
As a result, five criminal cases have been opened by the Tavush Investigation Department.
