Armenia’s Defense Ministry refutes another disinformation by Azerbaijan
Armenia’s Ministry of Defense (MOD) released a statement on Wednesday, officially refuting the disinformation disseminated by Azerbaijan, suggesting the Armenian military allegedly violated the ceasefire, meantime shelling the Azerbaijani civilian settlements, the press service of the ministry told Panorama.am.
The full statement is as follows:
“The Defense Ministry of the Republic of Armenia categorically dismisses the joint statement by the Azerbaijani defense and foreign ministers, according to which the units of the Armenian Armed Forces shelled the Azerbaijani military posts, as well as the civilian settlements.
The Defense Ministry of Armenia claims that the Armenian Armed Forces did not carry out any action along the entire contact line, not firing even a single shot. Moreover, unlike the similar working style of Azerbaijan, the Armenian Armed Forces never target civilian settlements and the reports on shelling them are primitive disinformation or an attempt of information preparation for further provocations of the Azerbaijani side.
The Armenian Defense Ministry warns the military and political leadership of Azerbaijan that in case of any provocation the Armenian side shall take tough retaliatory actions and calls on them to refrain from new adventurism, which can lead to unprecedented consequences for the entire region.
The best way to avoid the practice of empty accusations is the unconditional implementation of the 1994-1995 ceasefire agreements, the implementation of agreements reached at the presidents level on expanding the powers of the office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and introducing the border incident investigation mechanisms.”
