Minister of Finance hopeful to sign the next agreement on the avoidance of double taxation with the United States
The agreement on the avoidance of double taxation with the United States has already been on the agenda of Armenia’s ministry of finance, RA Minister of Finance Vardan Aramyan told reporters at a briefing after the cabinet session on Thursday.
“Since 2008 when I moved to the ministry of finance, there has been no single year when the matter has not been raised at the U.S. - Armenia Intergovernmental Commission, as an issue of highest priority for us,” Aramyan stressed.
At a remark what are the apparent benefits of the agreement, the minister said: “When economic entities make decisions, they usually look into the taxation system which is important for them. The countries with agreement on double taxation provide the entrepreneurs with certain trust to have clearly set rules of the game, should any disagreements occur in the future. That is why we are constantly discussing the matter with our American partners,” explained the minister.
Aramyan reminded Armenia signed on Wednesday agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and property with Israel.
“Armenia has signed agreements on excluding double taxation with 46 states, while Israel became the 47th. We are hopeful the United States will be the next,” Aramyan added.
