Kremlin considers normal Russia's arms supplies to Azerbaijan, but complains about possible U.S. weapons sales to Ukraine
Dmitry Peskov, Spokesman to Russia’s president, on Monday commented on the media reports on possible U.S. supplies of anti-tank missiles and other arms to Ukraine.
"Our position on the issue is well known – we believe that all countries, especially the countries which somehow seek a role in reconciliation, should avoid any actions which could trigger another round of tensions in this already difficult region," Sputnik News quoted Peskov as saying.
On Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported citing U.S. diplomats and military officials that the U.S. state and defense departments had devised a plan to supply Ukraine with anti-tank missiles and other weaponry.
According to the media outlet, the Pentagon and the State Department are seeking the approval of the White House on the issue.
It should be noted in this respect that Kremlin sees the Russian weapons supplies to Azerbaijan simply as a business plan in case when Russia claims ‘to play a role in the conflict settlement’ in the region.
Russia complains about the possible U.S. arms sales to Ukraine in case when it has repeatedly announced that Russia is not fighting a war against that country.
Thus, Russia’s such behavor and announcement can at least be assessed as a political obscenity.
