U.S.-Russia tensions likely to extend into 2050 – Ambassador Navasardyan
The issue of tense relations between Russia and the U.S. refers not only to the two states, but also all the major players, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Arman Navasardyan said at a news conference on Tuesday.
“This was not a casual and unexpected move by the United States, but rather it was part of the country’s primary geopolitical ambitions. These steps indirectly target not only Russia, but also Iran. Some experts say the U.S.-Russia tensions will relax soon, while the others predict the tension might last for decades, even up to 2050. This is an economic war against Russia, if not a Cold War,” the speaker highlighted.
In Mr. Navasardyan’s words, the U.S. will never abandon the idea of becoming the world hegemon, while Russia in its turn will change its political vector, improving relations with India and China.
The official next reflected on the Russian retaliation of cutting down the U.S. diplomatic presence in the country, calling it as an unprecedented step.
In conclusion, the Ambassador touched upon the possible impact of the relations between the two super powers on Armenia, pointing out the negative impact they will leave on the country. “Armenia’s possibility of holding maneuvers between Russia and the US will diminish. The small states never benefit from the confrontation between super powers,” he added.
