MES warns against threat of sunstroke
High temperature is predicted in the territory of Armenia on August 7-11, the Hydro-Meteorological Service of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) reported on Monday.
According to the source, in the daytime up to 39...41 degrees above zero and a high risk of fire is predicted in the valleys of Syunik, in Yerevan and Ararat Valley. The daily average air temperature will be 5-6 degrees higher than normal. The service recommended to avoid direct sunrays from 11:00 to 17:00, adding long-lasting physical work under the direct sunrays can cause sunstroke.
As the release said, no precipitation is expected in the republic. Southwest wind speed is 3-8 m/s. The air temperature will not change considerably. In capital city Yerevan 40...41 degrees
is expected during daytime.
