Mkhitaryan included in Manchester United squad travelling to Skopje for UEAFA Super Cup
Manchester United are flying out to Skopje, Macedonia on Monday ahead of the first competitive match of 2017/18, the UEFA Super Cup clash with Real Madrid, the club reported in a press release.
According to the source, the annual clash between the winners of the Europa League and Champions League pits Jose Mourinho’s men against Zinedine Zidane’s side will take place at the 33,460-capacity Philip II Arena. The United manager will hold a press conference upon arrival in Macedonia, before his squad train on the pitch, the club said.
Eric Bailly will definitely miss out through suspension after UEFA extended his initial one-match ban to three games, following the red card he received against Anderlecht at Old Trafford back in April. Phil Jones is also unavailable due to another UEFA punishment that was announced earlier this week.
Juan Mata and Ander Herrera were the only players who picked up injuries during Tour 2017, but both of the Spain internationals are now back in action as Armenian national team midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan who featured in all matches of the pre-season, scoring three goals and two assists.
Real Madrid v Manchester United will kick off at 22:45 Yerevan time on Tuesday.
