Armenian chess player among the leaders at veteran tournament in Spain
Karen Movsisyan of Armenian is placed second at the 17th European Senior Chess Championship (50+) for Men ahead of the final round, the National Olympic Committee reported.
According to the source, the Armenian GM has earned 6.5 points out of 8 and now is half a point adrift of the leader Yevgeni Kalegin. The pair is followed by another five chess players with 5.5 points each.
To note, the veteran tournament is organized in 9-round Swiss system in accordance with the ECU Tournament Rules and FIDE Laws of Chess. The rate of play is 90 minutes for 40 moves
plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting
from move one.
The final round is slated for August 21 where Movsisyan with whites will face Kalegin .
