The American side ready to assist in tackling the consequences of the Khosrov State Reserve fire
The United States Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills has expressed regret over the fire broken out in Khosrov State reserve at a meeting with Armenia’s Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, saying the U.S knows well the difficulties while containing such a crisis.
In Ambassador Mill’s words, the U.S. Embassy has been in close contact with Armenia’s ministries of Emergency Situations and Nature Protections to clarify the directions of the technical and expert assistance the Embassy could provide to the state structures.
As the governmental press service reported, PM Karen Karapetyan expressed gratitude for the U.S. readiness to provide assistance, adding relevant analysis and relevant conclusions about the causes and consequences of the fire will be made in the future with the follow-up clarification of the cooperation type with the American side.
To remind, a major fire broke out in Armenia’s Khosrov Forest State Reserve (located some 60 kilometers southeast of Yerevan) on August 12, consuming several hundred hectares. The wildfire was extinguished by the Russian firefighting aircraft in coordination with the Armenian firefighting and rescue teams.
