MES says no threat to public health due to Nairit plant fire
No people suffered injuries in the fire that broke out on Monday at the Nairit plant in Yerevan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) told Panorama.am.
According to preliminary data Acetylene was burning at the plant. “No dangerous emissions are observed from the burning materials. No threat to public health is reported,” the press service of the ministry said, adding radiation, chemical, and biological monitoring group is working at the scene.
To remind, a fire has broken out at the Nairit plant in capital city Yerevan on Monday afternoon. Al alert received by the MES at 1:10pm said that an explosion hit the territory of the plant, followed by fire.
Ten firefighting crews and the MES operative response group and the emergency response group of the regional Crisis Management Center were dispatched to the scene. At about 2pm, the fire was isolated, with no danger of its further spreading, MES reported.
