Firefighters tackle blaze at Nairit plant
The firefighting works continued throughout the night at Armenia’s Nairit plant, which was hit by massive fire on Monday afternoon.
As the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) reports, as of Tuesday 9am, the fire was extinguished in three out of the four reinforced concrete containers serving as ethynol storage in the plant, with only a small hotspot remaining unextinguished in one container.
Seven rescue teams are conducting firefighting works at the scene, the ministry says.
To remind, on August 28, at 1:10pm, the MES received an alert saying an explosion hit the territory of Nairit plant in Yerevan, followed by massive fire. Twelve fire crews, as well as the operative and the emergency response groups of the Crisis Management Center were dispatched to the scene.
