Residents of nearby buildings not affected as Nairit plant fire sends plumes of black smoke into air
The Ambulance did not receive calls from the residents of the buildings adjacent to Nairit plant after a massive fire erupted in the plant territory on Monday afternoon, Taguhi Stepanyan, director of Ambulance CJSC, told Panorama.am.
To note, plumes of thick black smoke were reportedly visible after the massive fire broke out in the rubber plant in capital city Yerevan.
“Only two of the firefighters taking part in the fire extinguishing works in the plant were taken to hospital due to experiencing respiratory problems. No other cases were recorded,” Ms. Stepanyan detailed.
As the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports, the radiation, chemical, and biological monitoring group detected no dangerous emissions from the burning materials in the plant after conducting an analysis on the spot.
