The Vardenis-Martakert highway will in a way break the Artsakh blockade – Gagik Minasyan
Armenian lawmakers should cooperate with their Artsakh counterparts more closely, Armenian MP Gagik Minasyan stated at a press conference on Thursday, summing up the recent visit of the delegation of Armenian deputies to Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) Republic.
“We are ready to provide assistance to them. Over the two-day sessions held in Artsakh, five different topics were discussed, including the law enforcement control, the establishment of a Parliament’s budgetary office, discussions over the law on establishment of an Audit Chamber, the creation of a relevant mechanisms to ensure Parliament-Audit Chamber cooperation and program budgeting,” Minasyan noted, adding good progress was made on discussions primarily focusing on efficient public finance management.
Speaking of the new road connecting Armenia with Artsakh through Vardenis, Minasyan pointed to the upcoming operation of the road as a major achievement, since “it will in a way will break the Artsakh Republic blockade.”
To note, the new road construction which is at its final phase, will shorten the distance between Armenia and Artsakh by 10-20 km, and will significantly contribute to the tourist flow to Karabakh.
