Three Armenian GMs to take part in FIDE World Chess Cup 2017
FIDE World Chess Cup 2017 is slated for Tbilisi, Georgia on 3-27 September. The 128-player knockout chess tour also features Armenian GMs Levon Aronian, Hrant Melkumyan and Robert Hovhannisyan, chess.am reports.
According to the source, Levon Aronian will face Daniel Cawdery at 1/64 finals, Hrant Melkumyan will compete with Boris Grachev and Robert Hovhannisyan will play against Maxim Rodshtein. GM Varuzhan Hakobyan representing U.S. will face Anton Kovalyov from Canada.
The finalists will qualify for the 2018 Candidates Tournament.
