UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Henrikh Mkhitaryan calls for every child to get a quality inclusive education
Armenian national football team captain and Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan
says every child has a right to quality education along their peers, regardless of their abilities. In a video message, released today on the football player’s Facebook account, Mkhitaryan insists the majority of our society thinks that children with disabilities should be places in special schools segregated from the society. “Everyone has a role in turning his situation around,” he says.
Mkhitaryan, who was appointed UNICEFF Goodwill Ambassador last year to bring awareness to the rights of the most marginalised children in the country, reminds that the organization supports the Armenian government so that every child in Armenia is included in mainstream education from early childhood to adolescence.
“I call upon our society parents, children, and our teachers to welcome children with disabilities this September back in their classrooms, the schools, and the community. For every child quality, inclusive educations,” reads the message by the Armenian football star.
