Armenia’s MES receives 1,239,372 calls Jan-August
In January-August 2017, Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) received a total of 1,239,372 emergency calls, 410 of which referred to suicide attempts, an Armenian official said, adding crisis management centers have been set up in all the regions of the country.
“In addition to that, there are plans to receive 39 fire-fighting trucks from Japan to replenish fire and rescue equipment of Syunik, Shirak and Lori provinces,” Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Davit Karapetyan told a news conference on Saturday.
According to the official, Minister of Emergency Situations David Tonoyan tasked the relevant bodies to conduct a research to deploy anti-hail rocket systems in Armenia.
“After a while, three anti-hail rocket launchers are planned to be deployed in Armavir and Aragatsotn provinces to protect 45 thousand hectares of agricultural land,” the official concluded.
