President attends festive event on Emergency Workers Day
President Serzh Sargsyan attended today an Emergency Workers’ Day-dated festive event at the Ministry of Emergency Situations, press department at the President’s Office reported.
Welcoming the Rescue Service officers and congratulating them on the holiday, the President handed State awards to a number of MES staff members and a group of individuals for bravery shown in the exercise of their professional duties, as well as for high professional training and dedication demonstrated during firefighting operations in the territory of Armenia.
A solemn march was held after the award ceremony. As part of Emergency Workers’ Day-dated events, a khachkar-monument dedicated to rescuers was inaugurated and consecrated in the presence of the President of the Republic of Armenia, National Security Council members, the Ministers of Nature Protection, Agriculture, foreign diplomats invited to the celebration. It is dedicated to those rescuers perished during combat operations and the exercise of service duties.
President Sargsyan next attended the opening of the third building of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The President toured the premises getting acquainted with the working conditions and service activities.
The newly opened building incorporates the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Fire and Technical Safety Inspectorate, the National Technical Safety Center, the State Reserves Agency, the Disaster Medicine Center and the affiliated outpatient clinic, as well as the Psychological Service.
