Armenian airports see 25.4% rise in passenger traffic Jan-August 2017
Passenger flow at Armenia’s two main airports accounted for 1 667 173 people in January-August 2017, showing a 25.4% growth compared to the same period of the last year, according to the figures released by the General Department of Civil Aviation.
Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport and Shirak Airport in Gyumri welcomed some 293 317 passengers in August of this year, which is a 14.9% increase over August 2016.
Zvartnots Airport led the increase, with 10.2% growth to 281 345 passengers in August of this year.
In January-August 2017, the passenger flow at the airport totaled to 21.9% compared to the indicated period of 2016.
The published data also show that 14 985 tons of cargo has been transported through Zvartnots Airport during the indicated period, which is a 54% increase over the volume transported in January-August 2016.
In August 2017, Shirak Airport in Gyumri served 11 972 passengers. The passenger traffic at the airport comprised for 56 243 people in January-August 2017, with 7 065 people welcomed by the airport in the indicated period of the last year.
Meanwhile, the total number of flights and landings of the both airports in January-August 2017 has also registered increase accounting for 22.1 % to compare with the numbers of the previous year.
