Yerevan Opera Theatre announces premiere of a new children’s ballet in the jubilee season
The Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan plans to perform children’s performances during its jubilee 85th season. Composer Karen Khachaturyan’s Cipollino Ballet in two acts will be played, the Opera Theater Artistic Director and Director Konstantin Orbelyan told a press conference on Tuesday.
“We will finally have a children’s performance,” he said.
Orbelyan reminded, the Opera and Ballet Theatre kicked off the 85th jubilee season today with expected dozens of jubilee celebrations, premieres, concerts and festivals to be held throughout the entire year.
As the Opera and Ballet Theatre reported earlier, the 85th jubilee session will begin with Anoush performance by A. Tigranyan scheduled on 5 September, with a series of start-up events to be held in the theatre on the same day.
The theatre will see two premieres in September – Sasuntsi Davit (by Haro Stepanyan) will premiere on 9 September, with Poliuto, a three-act opera by Gaetano Donizetti, set to premiere on 30 September.
Apart from that, a unique mega show titled “The Last Judgement” will be premiered on September 14 at the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan. As the Ministry of Culture reported in a release, G. Verdi’s Requiem by visual creation by Paolo Micciche will be staged accompanied by 3D animation of Michelangelos’ Sistine Chapel.
