UK fully supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs – Ambassador
The United Kingdom fully supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs towards the talks between the parties aimed at the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Judith Farnworth, the UK Ambassador to Armenia, noted at today’s roundtable discussion on the topic of the “Security and diplomacy in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict: a new stage?” held by the Caucasus Institute.
To note, the roundtable discussion is held in the framework of a project on “Engaging society and decision-makers in dialogue for peace over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict” funded by the UK Government’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund and implemented by the Yerevan-based Caucasus Institute.
“Over the years, we have supported a range of programs to help the parties [to the Karabakh conflict] to meet and jointly discuss the ways to achieve a lasting peace. We welcome the fact that the EU continues this process through its own program,” the Ambassador said.
Ms. Farnworth noted that they do not underestimate the possible challenges, however the UK Embassy is ready to assist the initiatives towards promoting the peaceful settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and thus enhancing the security level in Armenia and across the entire region.
