No Armenians suffered in Florida by Hurricane Irma
Hurricane Irma has caused large-scale devastations in Florida, uprooting trees, damaging cars and houses, however the members of the local Armenian community are safe and the Armenian Church is not damaged, Pastor of St. Mary Armenian Church Vartan Joulfayan has told the Voice of America Armenian service in a skype interview.
According to initial data, the number of deaths in Florida from Hurricane Irma has raised to 12 from the previous seven. “Thanks God, people are safe and we continue praying for everyone’s safety and the soon recovery of those suffered,” the pastor said.
Vartan Joulfayan next informed the members of the community will gather at the Church of the Holy Virgin on Sunday to celebrate the Feast of the Cross and to restore the territory of the Church.
