Armenia introduces pilot project to make national song and dance as school subject
Armenian education officials have launched a pilot project, introducing national song and dance into the school system. The subject will be taught for 5-, 6-, and 7-graders in 222 schools across the republic.
According to the instruction of the Education and Science Minister Levon Mkrtchyan, the subject will be taught by teachers trained at the “National Academy of Song and Dance” Foundation and the ministry specialists.
In capital Yerevan only the subject will be taught in 97 schools. It is noted that the pilot project does not involve all schools of the republic at the initial phase, leaving out mostly educatin institutions in provinces.
