Armenian premiere of Sharafyan’s Cello Concert to be performed at Yerevan 11th International Music Festival
The upcoming concert in the frames of the Yerevan 11th International Music Festival will be dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia celebrated on September 21. As Panorama.am learnt from the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the concert will take place on September 24 at Aram Khachatryan Concert Hall. According to the source, Sharafyan’s Cello Concerto No.2 (Armenian premiere) dedicated to Suren Bagratuni is included in the program.
Poulenc’s Sonata for Flute /Orchestration by Lennox Berkeley and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.4 will continue the evening. Soloists Suren Bagratuni (cello, USA) and Massimo Mercelli, (flute, Italy) will perform at the concert with the Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Artistic Director of the Orchestra Eduard Topchjan.
To remind, Yerevan 11th International Music Festival which opened on September 11 is held under the High Patronage of the First Lady of Armenia Mrs. Rita Sargsyan and is supported by the Ministry of Culture of RA. The Festival Artistic Directors are Alexander Chaushian and Eduard Topchjan.
