Armenian nuclear plant safety complies with international standards – minister
The 61st Annual Regular Session of the General Conference of the United Nations Organization's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) kicked off in Vienna on September 18, with the participation of the Armenian delegation led by Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan, the press service of the ministry reports.
Addressing the conference today, the head of the Armenian delegation touched upon the safe use of nuclear energy, compliance with the obligations of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and highlighted the high level of security of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant.
The minister drew the participants' attention to the results of the expert missions carried out by international organizations, according to which the safety level of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) complies with international standards.
Mr. Manukyan highly assessed the long-term and effective cooperation with the IAEA aimed at increasing the safety of the Armenian NPP.
Within the framework of the forum, the Armenian delegation held a number of working meetings, including with IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano.
